ZUSAMMENFASSUNG

Die Diagnose eines Typ 1 Diabetes mellitus stellt – trotz großer technischer und pharmakologischer Errungenschaften in der letzten Dekade – weiterhin eine sehr große Belastung für Patient, Angehörige und familiäres Umfeld dar. Neben der Diskussion hinsichtlich der optimalen Therapieführung, und Verringerung bzw. Vermeidung von Folgeschäden der Erkrankung, sind potenziell auftretende Akutkomplikationen, sowohl hypo- als auch hyperglykämischer Art, eine alltägliche Herausforderung für die Patienten. Trotz der sukzessiven Abnahme der Anzahl an diabetischen Ketoazidosen bei bekanntem Diabetes und schweren Hypoglykämien in den letzten Jahren, stellt – insbesondere im Kleinkindalter – die diabetische Ketoazidose im Rahmen der Diabetesmanifestation weiterhin ein ungelöstes Problem dar.
