“Art in Endoscopy” – to be continued!

Dear Endoscopy readers and authors,

I hope that most of you enjoyed some relaxation during the summer and that you are ready for another exciting year in the endoscopy suite. Let’s hope that COVID-19 will no longer pose such a great burden on us as it did in in the first part of 2020.

As you may have already noticed, from January 2020 our journal covers have featured the “Art in Endoscopy” series, with images of incidentally observed beautiful findings encountered during endoscopic procedures. The photographs on this year’s covers were originally submitted by a group of Dutch endoscopists as part of an exhibition organized by the Dutch Society of Gastroenterology.

The positive feedback on this feature has been overwhelming, and some readers have already submitted endoscopic images, asking whether these could be used as future Endoscopy covers. We are happy to announce that we have decided to continue the “Art in Endoscopy” project for the 2021 issues.

Beautiful images that are incidentally encountered in endoscopic practice can be considered for publication. Of course, each image will undergo review by the Editorial team. Each month, the selected photograph will appear on the cover of Endoscopy and the complete image will be displayed inside the journal with a short introduction by its creator. The guidelines for submitting endoscopic images can be found in the “Instructions to Authors” on the Endoscopy website (https://endoscopy.thieme.com/home).

We very much look forward to receiving your images, but please be aware that we need to be very selective as only twelve of them can be chosen for publication on the cover of Endoscopy in 2021.
