Die Notwendigkeit zur Abklärung sekundärer Hypertonieursachen ergibt sich aufgrund anamnestischer und klinischer Merkmale. Nur bei Vorliegen dieser Hinweise ist eine Diagnostik sinnvoll, welche stufenweise und systematisch durchgeführt werden sollte, um die zugrunde liegenden Ursachen mit hoher Genauigkeit zu diagnostizieren und einer spezifischen Therapie zuzuführen.
