Recently, the European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB) published a position paper to illustrate the potential advantages of ultrasound (US) and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) for the assessment of renal cystic lesions (RCL) [1]. This position paper provides guidance for the use of US and CEUS for the evaluation of renal cysts. The EFSUMB CEUS categorization is not intended to replace, but rather to complement the current Bosniak CT categorization, thereby improving its accuracy in the assessment of malignancy in each category.
