Malassimilationssyndrome

Malassimilation ist ein Syndrom verschiedenster Ursachen und Erkrankungen mit nahrungsabhängigem Durchfall und begleitendem Gewichtsverlust. Sowohl Maldigestion als auch Malabsorption werden hierunter zusammengefasst. Dieser Beitrag beleuchtet diese verschiedenen Erkrankungen und zeigt die differenzialdiagnostischen Möglichkeiten und die therapeutischen Optionen dieses Syndroms.

Abstract

This review describes the different entities, that typically result in malassimilation (maldigestion or malabsorption) including their pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic workup and therapy. Primary and secondary malassimilation should be distinguished. Celiac disease, lambliasis, small bowel Crohn’s disease, common variable immunodeficiency syndrome (CVIDS) and Whipple’s disease result in loss of absorptive surface. Secondary malassimilation is due to other diseases or functional disorders that mostly are related to previous surgery.
