Abstract
Potentially Inappropriate Medications (PIM) for Geriatric Patients: How are Herbal Medicines Assessed?
Specific drugs and classes of drugs are potentially inadequate for geriatric patients (PIM), especially due to their spectrum of adverse effects. They therefore should be stopped and eventually be substituted. In the last 25 years, PIM lists have been developed in many countries in order to support this decision process that is often complex. In this article, PIM lists from Germany and Europe are presented including their development process with respect to the provided statements on phytotherapy.
