Welding Arc Maculopathy Caused by Malfunction of a High-tech Electronic Protection Shield
Schweißbogen-Makulopathie durch Fehlfunktion einer elektronischen „High-tech“-Schutzmaske![](https://www.thieme-connect.de/media/klimo/202304/lookinside/thumbnails/10-1055-a-2004-5286_klm0289-1.jpg)
Introduction
Welderʼs arc maculopathy is a rarely described outer retinal photic damage mainly caused by radiation in the short-wave visual light spectrum [1], [2]. Contemporary shielding devices convey effective protection by electronically controlled adaptive filter systems installed in welding helmets. In this report, the observation of welding arc retinopathy is described in a case after use of a malfunctioning high-tech welding helmet.
