Introduction

Infarction of regenerative nodules in patients with liver cirrhosis is a rare complication and has been mainly seen in patients with shock in the context of gastrointestinal bleeding or septicemia (Lee et al., Abdom Imaging 2014; 40:835–842). On further imaging, however, infarcted regenerative nodules may be mistaken for (multifocal) hypovascular HCCs, metastases, or abscesses (Kim et al., AJR 2000;175:1121–1125). We report on one case of infarcted regenerative nodules detected by CEUS after TIPS implantation without the presence of systemic hypotension.
