ABSTRACT
When children are five years old and wet themselves involuntarily, we call it urinary incontinence when it happens during daytime and nocturnal enuresis during nighttime. If both conditions are combined nomenclature and therefore the resulting diagnostics and therapy are a bit more complicated.
Enuresis is mostly a functional disorder. We can use non-invasive diagnostics to rule out somatic causes and to find an exact diagnosis. There is a special treatment for functional enuresis called urotherapy. In urotherapy it is most important to free the children and families from taboos and myths in order to generate understanding for each other and for the condition. We nominate the child to the chief of its own bladder und accompany the family on its individual way to continence.
