„Morgen kommt ein neuer Dialysepatient.” Diesen Satz hören Pflegekräfte viele Male von den Ärzten. Wer ist der Patient, wie geht es ihm, was weiß er und noch viele andere Fragen gehen einer Pflegekraft nach so einer Ankündigung durch den Kopf. Die Auskunft der Ärzte ist meist sehr knapp und beschränkt sich auf das Nötigste. Der neue Patient ist unsicher, ängstlich und meist grenzenlos überfordert angesichts der „Informationsflut” die zu Dialysebeginn über ihn hereinbricht. Ein ausführliches Gespräch mit Dialysefachpersonal über Unterschiede, Pro und Kontra der einzelnen Verfahren sowie deren genauen Ablauf könnte bei vielen Patienten den Stress vor der ersten Dialyse mildern. Im Rahmen der Arbeit sollte ermittelt werden, welche Bedeutung ein Pflegegespräch für zukünftige Dialysepatienten und deren Partner hat. Dazu wurden die Dialysepatienten des Zentrums Ansbach zu deren Einschätzung befragt. Wie sich zeigte, hätten die Patienten ein Gespräch mit dem Pflegepersonal in der präterminalen Phase durchaus positiv aufgenommen, auch wenn sie Inhalt und Auswirkung auf die persönliche Wahl eines Dialyseverfahrens nicht einschätzen konnten.
„A new dialysis patient is due tomorrow”. These words are frequently spoken to care personnel by hospital physicians. Who is this patient and what is his overall condition? Is he well informed? Care personnel often ponder on these questions and on many others after such an announcement. Physicians usually don't say much and these questions go through the care personnel's mind. The new patient isn't sure of himself and rather fearful as he is flooded with a plethora of information before dialysis sets in. This pre–dialysis stress could be greatly relieved if someone would tell the patient details about the differences and the pros and cons of the various procedures of dialysis. Such a pre–dialysis talk with the expert personnel would be a great help, telling the patient more about the procedure and its details. The present article deals with the importance of such a preliminary informative talk to both patient and personnel. Dialysis patients of the Ansbach center were questioned on this issue. It became evident that patients had reacted positively to such a preterm discussion even if they were unable to finally decide on the consequences and procedures of the various methods of dialysis.
