Abstract
This article focuses on the contemporary findings about bracket bonding on ceramic, gold, amalgam and composite surfaces. The bonding procedures, the different conditioning procedures as well as the bond strength results were included. Mechanical and chemical procedures were introduced in dentistry to achieve adequate bond strengths for bracket bonding. The results obtained in the last years approve a combination with chemical additives to gain adequate bond strengths. The conditioning procedures to ceramic, gold, amalgam and composite show clinically acceptable bond strengths, already confirmed by clinical trials.
