Übersicht:

Diese Arbeit thematisiert mögliche Einflussfaktoren auf die sexuelle Lebensqualität (SLQ) bei Männern und Frauen mit unterschiedlichen Formen von Epilepsie. Es werden physiologische, pharmakologische, psychologische und soziale Faktoren erläutert und Zusammenhänge zwischen diesen diskutiert. Die bei Epilepsie häufig gefundenen Einschränkungen der sexuellen Lebensqualität sind vermutlich multifaktoriell bedingt. Die Bedingungsgefüge scheinen geschlechtsspezifisch zu sein: so spielen bei Frauen psychologische und soziale Faktoren eine größere Rolle, bei Männern hingegen physiologische Faktoren, wie der Hormonspiegel. Die potenziellen Einflüsse werden hinsichtlich ihrer Relevanz diskutiert, woraus schließlich Implikationen für Diagnostik und Intervention abgeleitet werden. Eine sorgfältige Untersuchung aller möglichen Einflussfaktoren ist die Voraussetzung für eine individuelle und umfassende Behandlung einer verminderten sexuellen Lebensqualität bei Epilepsie. Je nach Ursache sind medizinische, pharmakotherapeutische oder psychotherapeutische Interventionen notwendig.

1 Die Literaturauswahl erfolgte durch eine Pubmed-Recherche mit den Suchbegriffen „epilepsy“, „epilepsy, sexuality“, „epilepsy, sexual dysfunction“, „epilepsy, sexual disorders“, „epilepsy, sex hormones“, „epilepsy, sexual quality of life“ und „epilepsy, antiepileptic drugs“. Weiterhin wurden Fachzeitschriften zum Thema Epilepsie systematisch nach Beiträgen zur Sexualität durchsucht und medizinische Fachbücher in die Auswertung einbezogen. Auch weiterführende Literaturhinweise in den gesichteten Artikeln wurden beachtet.
