Was ist neu?

• Zerebrovaskuläre Erkrankungen: Weniger Kochsalz senkt Schlaganfallrisiko. Phenprocoumon erhält eine Alternative. Ereignisrate bei höhergradigen asymptomatischen Karotisstenosen unter konservativer Therapie wahrscheinlich niedriger als bisher angenommen. Verschluss eines PFOs bei ansonsten kryptogenen Schlaganfällen bisher nicht zu empfehlen.

• Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen: Kombination aus Mittelmeerdiät und regelmäßiger körperlicher Betätigung kann vor Alzheimerdemenz schützen. Immunisierung gegenüber Aβ42-Peptid scheint auch im Langzeitverlauf die Progression der Erkrankung günstig zu beeinflussen. Erste Modulatoren der γ-Sekretase in Studien nicht signifikant besser als Placebo.

• Multiple Sklerose: Veränderbare Lebensstilfaktoren haben Einfluss auf Krankheitsentwicklung. Nicht-Raucher haben einen günstigeren Verlauf als Raucher. Daneben wird es in Kürze zwei auch oral einsetzbare neue Medikamente zur Schubprophylaxe geben, die eine höhere Risikoreduktion zeigen als die bisher eingesetzten Interferon-β-Präparate.
