Patientenpräferenzen und die öffentliche Gesundheitsversorgung in Indien

Zusammenfassung

Die Patientenwünsche werden mit der tatsächlichen Versorgung in Indien verglichen. Die Nachfrage (12 %) nach homöopathischer Behandlung ist doppelt so hoch wie das derzeit genutzte Angebot. Das Angebot im öffentlichen Gesundheitswesen wird in vielen Bundesstaaten ausgeweitet. Allerdings zeigt die Fallstudie zu New Delhi, dass das Bevölkerungswachstum diese Anstrengungen großenteils konterkariert, sodass seit 1978 nur eine geringfügige Verbesserung erreicht wurde. Deshalb wird die Kooperation mit dem privaten Sektor verstärkt, um auch die bisher weitgehend von der öffentlichen Gesundheitsversorgung ausgeschlossenen Slumbewohner zu erreichen und das Missverhältnis zwischen hoher Nachfrage und schwachem Angebot etwas auszugleichen.

The request of the patients are compared to the actual medical supply in India. The request (12%) for homoeopathic treatment is twice as much as the actually used offer. The offer of public health service is extended in several Indian states. Yet, a study on New Delhi shows that population growth impedes these efforts in a great measure, so that only slight ameliorations have been gained since 1978. This is why cooperation with the private sector is being strengthened. Thus even the inhabitants of the slums, mostly excluded from public health services, could be reached, and the imbalance between high request and weak offer could be somewhat compensated.
