Zusammenfassung
Spastik ist eine Funktionsstörung, die bei verschiedenen
neurologischen Erkrankungen zu beobachten ist. Die klinische Behandlung von
Spastik wird teilweise mit enormem Aufwand betrieben, weil allgemein angenommen
wird, dass Spastik sowohl die funktionelle Erholung als auch die
Bewegungsfähigkeit beeinträchtigt und dass sie Kontrakturen,
Schmerzen, Spasmen, Kloni etc. beeinflusst. Trotz langjähriger Forschungen
gibt es bisher keine wissenschaftlichen Belege, die solche kausalen
Zusammenhänge bestätigen, und Ergebnisse für die klinische
Anwendbarkeit sind von verhältnismäßig geringem Nutzen. Dieser
Artikel konzentriert sich auf drei strittige Punkte: Definition, Messung und
klinische Relevanz der Spastik. Diese Aspekte müssen unbedingt
geklärt werden, wenn die Spastikforschung künftig zu einer
größeren klinischen Anwendbarkeit finden soll.
