Möglichkeiten der bariatrischen Chirurgie

Zusammenfassung

Chirurgische Interventionen zur Gewichtsreduktion – Übergewicht und Adipositas nehmen in der westlichen Welt so stark zu, dass man tatsächlich von einer Epidemie sprechen kann. Problematisch für betroffene Menschen sind dabei nicht allein die verminderte Leistungsfähigkeit und die sozialen Probleme, die sich aus dem „Dicksein” ergeben, sondern vor allem die gravierenden gesundheitlichen Folgen. Für viele ist eine chirurgische Intervention die letzte Hoffnung auf die Rückkehr in ein normales Leben.
