Unser Fall zeigt, dass eine genaue Einordnung der Genese einer rasch progredienten Demenz trotz vermeintlich typischer klinischer Symptome und ausführlicher diagnostischer Maßnahmen (Bildgebung, EEG, Labor- und Liquoranalysen) oft erst durch eine Hirnbiopsie oder die Hirnsektion möglich ist. Die Therapie sollte bis zur Sicherung der Diagnose mögliche Differenzialdiagnosen berücksichtigen.
