Introduction
Within the past decade, surgical instrumentation, technology, and techniques have radically advanced to provide our patients with better surgical options. Most of this has focused on the introduction of minimally invasive techniques. However, but many do not realize is that the same time the technologies surrounding the surgical practice was also advancing. New innovations have improved communication and education amongst surgeons as well as between surgeons and their patients. This special edition of European Journal of Pediatric Surgery will review “New Media” and some of the newest and most influential technology relating to the education and communication in pediatric surgery. Following is a list of what may be the greatest technological advancements in communication and education in pediatric surgery within the past decade.
