Bei Laboruntersuchungen findet man Sprosspilze in ganz unterschiedlichen Proben. Am häufigsten gelingt der Nachweis, und zwar hauptsächlich von Candida spp., in Proben von älteren Menschen. Dies gilt auch für Blutkulturen. Absolut ist C. albicans die häufigste Art, gefolgt von C. glabrata. Im Alter nimmt der relative Anteil von C. glabrata ständig zu. Die Konsequenzen eines positiven Nachweises von Candida spp. sind ganz unterschiedlich, je nach Herkunft des Materials. Diese differenzierenden Überlegungen bei der Wertung der Laborergebnisse werden dargelegt. Neben Fluconazol stehen heute noch weitere Triazole für eine notwendige Therapie zur Verfügung. Die fungiziden Echinocandine haben auch gegenüber C. glabrata eine gute Wirkung und sind selbst im hohen Alter gut verträglich.
In laboratory tests of widely differing samples one often finds traces of yeasts and fungi. Detection is most frequent in samples of elderly patients and then above all od Candida spp. This is also valid for blood cultures. In absolute numbers, C. albicans is the most common species, followed by C. glabrata. In the elderly the relative amount of C. glabrata increases continuously with increasing age. The consequences of a positive test for Candida spp. vary widely depending on the origin of the test material. These differentiating considerations in the evaluation of laboratory are discussed. Besides fluconazol other triazoles are now available for the necessary therapy. The fungicidal echinocandins also exhibit a good action against C. and are well tolerated even by elderly patients.
