I want to thank my colleague Dr. Izaddoost who is also a member of the Editorial Board of Seminars in Plastic Surgery for serving as guest editor for this edition. We appreciate the efforts made by each outstanding author for contributing to this issue.

Shayan A. Izaddoost, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery and Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. He serves as the Program Director of the Integrated Residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine, and as the Chief of Plastic Surgery, Ben Taub Hospital, Houston, Texas.

Dr. Izaddoost received his MD and PhD from Baylor College of Medicine and completed his Postdoctoral training in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor. He stayed on to complete his Residency in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Izaddoost is a board-certified plastic surgeon. He has a particular interest in the area of breast reconstruction and assists breast cancer survivors to recapture the aesthetic form which they may have lost. In addition, he has a research interest in the treatment of implantable device infections, especially breast and cardiac devices. With the increase use of implantable device in the medical field, this experience can help all surgeons treat and achieve the best outcomes for their patients.
