Abstract
The Berlin Wall was erected under great time pressure. It created an airtight division between East and West Berlin, an alien presence and impermeable barrier, manned by soldiers ‘forever’ on the alert that destroyed the normal flow of things. The essence of this case is encapsulated in the image of the cement airplane: it is supposed to fly but cannot on account of its cement construction. This is an attempt to bring together opposing qualities.
The remedy Berlin Wall removed the extremes and brought back the normal flow of things.
