Zusammenfassung:

Gegenstand und Ziel: In dem vorliegenden Artikel wird die Pulmonalstenosenballonierung als mögliche Behandlungsalternative für Patienten mit Fallot-Tetralogie mit Rechts-links-Shunt erörtert und ein Überblick über weitere therapeutische Optionen gegeben. Material und Methoden: Die klinischen, radiologischen, elektrokardiographischen und echokardiographischen Befunde bei einer einjährigen Hündin mit Fallot-Tetralogie mit symptomatischem Rechts-links-Shunt werden beschrieben. Therapeutisch wurde eine Ballonvalvuloplastie der Pulmonalklappe unter Allgemeinanästhesie durchgeführt. Ergebnisse: Die Ballonierung der Pulmonalstenose führte zu einer Reduktion des Rechts-links-Shunts: Postoperativ verbesserten sich die klinischen Symptome der Hündin. Schlussfolgerung: Die Ballonvalvuloplastie kann im Einzelfall für Patienten mit Fallot-Tetralogie eine wenig invasive palliative Therapieoption darstellen.

Summary:

Objective: This article discusses the balloon dilation of pulmonic stenosis as a possible treatment for patients with tetralogy of fallot with signs of right-to-left-shunting. A review is given about therapeutic alternatives. Material and methods: The clinical, radiographic, electrocardiographic and echocardiographic features of a one-year-old female dog with tetralogy of fallot with clinical signs of right-to-left-shunt are described. The dog was treated by balloon valvuloplasty of the pulmonic valve under general anaesthesia. Results: After balloon dilation of pulmonic stenosis the right-to-left-shunt was reduced, and clinical signs of dyspnea improved. Conclusion: In individual cases palliative balloon dilation of pulmonic stenosis could be a non-invasive therapeutic option for patients with tetralogy of fallot.
