Zusammenfassung
Die Entwicklungsschritte in den ersten Lebensjahren stellen große Meilensteine im Leben eines Menschen dar. Kinder können in ihrer Entwicklung deutlich voneinander abwei-chen und sich dennoch normal entwickeln. (10, 12). Was jedoch als normale Entwicklung einzustufen ist, wo und wie sich Abweichungen, Verzögerungen oder Störungen in der Entwicklung eines Säuglings oder Kleinkindes zeigen, lässt sich oft schwer beurteilen und stellt hohe Anforderungen an die Entwicklungsdiagnostik. Eines der wichtigsten und häufig angewandten Testverfahren der Entwicklungsdiagnostik sind die auf die USAmerikanerin Nancy Bayley zurückgehenden Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, welche ursprünglich zur Beschreibung der normalen frühkindlichen Entwicklung dienend, im Verlauf ihrer Entwicklung bevorzugt zur Identifikation von Entwicklungsstörungen eingesetzt wurden. Mithilfe der Bayley Scales kann der Entwicklungsstand eines Kindes in den drei Bereichen Sprache (expressiv und rezeptiv), Kognition und Motorik (Fein- und Grob-) ermittelt werden.
Summary
The development steps in the first years of life represent milestones in the life of a human being. Children can differ considerably in their development and nevertheless comply with the standard (10, 12). It is often hard to determine what has to be seen as normal development and where and how variations, retardation and disorder in infant and toddler development show. This makes high demands on developmental diagnostic methods. One of the most important and frequently used test procedures are the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development. Originally they were designed to describe standard infantile development. Now they are mostly used for detecting developmental disorders. By means of the Bayley Scales a child’s developmental status can be evaluated in the domains of language (receptive and expressive), cognition and motor skills (gross and fine).
