Die Inzidenz von Keimzelltumoren des Hodens nimmt seit den vergangenen 50 Jahren kontinuierlich zu. In Deutschland sind jährlich etwa 4700 Männer betroffen. Bei mehr als 95% der Hodentumore handelt es sich um Malignome. Heute können rund 80% der Männer dauerhaft geheilt werden. Daher ist es wichtig, prognostisch wichtige Faktoren zu identifizieren, um die Inzidenz und die tumorassoziierte Mortalität senken zu können.
