Conceptual Indexing and Retrieval of Current Research Records: An Analysis of Problems and Progress in a Large Scale Information System

Methods developed for handling information on research, in progress in an organization (SIE) with a background of 20 years of service to the research scientist and administrator are described in detail, along with problems which have been encountered. The rationale for the selection of those methods of indexing and retrieval which have proven useful over the period of experience is discussed.

Die Methoden der Verarbeitung von Informationen über in Entwicklung befindliche Forschungsprojekte, die in den letzten 20 Jahren vom »Science Information Exchange« im Dienste der Forscher und Administratoren ausgearbeitet wurden, werdan ausführlich mit den damit verbundenen Problemen besprochen. Die Gründe für die Wahl derjenigen Methoden, die sich für das Klassifizieren und Wiederauffinden bewährt haben, werden diskutiert.
