In September 2019, we cordially invite you to celebrate the 45th Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuropediatrics (Gesellschaft für Neuropädiatrie) with us. For the first time, this meeting will take place as part of the Annual Meeting of the German Pediatric Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kinder- und Jugendmedizin, DGKJ), and also with the German Society for Pediatric Surgery (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kinderchirurgie, DGKCH), the German Society for Social Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sozialpädiatrie und Jugendmedizin, DGSPJ), and the German Professional Society of Pediatric Nursing (Berufsverband Kinderkrankenpflege Deutschland, BeKD). This conference (https://dgkj2019.de) will take place on September 11 to 14, 2019, in Messe München in Munich, and we expect up to 3,000 participants from all fields of pediatrics.

This joint meeting offers unique chances to discuss important pediatric issues in direct contact with specialists from all disciplines. Many of these discussions will take place in interdisciplinary sessions, and will cover the following topics: (1) innovative diagnostics, (2) paradigm shifts triggered by epidemiology, and (3) severely disabled children as acute inpatients; the latter with major contributions also from pediatric neurology. Furthermore, we have used this unique chance to organize scientific sessions on neuropediatric diseases involving also other pediatric disciplines, such as “heart and brain,” “epileptogenic brain tumors,” “early seizures and epilepsies,” or “intensive care and neurorehabilitation.”

A special highlight of the 45th Annual Meeting of the Gesellschaft für Neuropädiatrie will be the Honorary Award lecture, to be held by Dr. Lieven Lagae, University of Leuven, on “How pediatric neurologists can help to develop better treatments in childhood epilepsy.” We are also looking forward to the lecture of this year's awardee of the DESITIN Forscherpreis, Dr. Nikolas Boy, on “Newborn screening: A disease-changing intervention for glutaric aciduria type 1.”

The Gesellschaft für Neuropädiatrie could accept 40 free submissions for platform presentations and 83 submissions for poster presentations. The abstracts of these free contributions are published in an abstract supplement of Neuropediatrics, available at: https://www.thieme-connect.com/products/ejournals/journal/10.1055/s-00000041. The link to this website will also be established on the homepage of the Gesellschaft für Neuropädiatrie: www.gesellschaft-fuer-neuropaediatrie.org.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Munich!
