Beim ischämischen Schlaganfall ist eine thrombolytische Therapie derzeit der Behandslungsstandard. Es gibt jedoch bereits Hinweise, dass eine endovaskuläre Thrombektomie der Lysetherapie überlegen sein könnte. Zwei aktuelle Studien belegen diese Aussage bei Patienten mit proximalem Arterienverschluss.
