Die Hauptziele der endodontischen Behadlung sind pulpale und periapikale Infektionen zur Heilung zu bringen, sowie die Ausbreitung dieser Infektionen oder einer Reinfektion im periradikulären Raum vorzubeugen [1]. Es wurde vielfach darauf hingewiesen, dass die Hauptursachen des endodontischen Misserfolgs durch eine inkorrekte Wurzelkanalaufbereitung und -füllung sowie durch das Übersehen von Wurzelkanälen zu erklären sind [2]. Die Kenntnis der Wurzelkanalanatomie und das Erkennen, Erschließen, Desinfizieren und Füllen aller vorhandenen Wurzelkanäle eines betroffenen Zahns stellen die Grundvoraussetzungen für die erfolgreiche endodontische Behandlung dar [3].
