Indikationen für eine Magenschutztherapie sind vielfältig. Es stehen Antisekretorika (Histamin-H2-Rezeptor-Antagonisten, Protonenpumpenhemmer, Prostaglandin-E2-Analoga) und Zytoprotektiva (Sucralfat, Aluminium- bzw. Magnesiumhydroxid) zur Verfügung, die auch in Kombination verwendet werden können.
