CT Features of a Voluminous Gastric Trichobezoar

Summary

We report on the case of a 15-year-old girl with a voluminous gastric trichobezoar imaged by CT. The absence of any attachment of the mass to the gastric wall and the presence of air within the mass are very suggestive for diagnosis.

Les auteurs rapportent le cas d'une fille de 15 ans, présentant un volumineux trichobezoar diagnostiqué par scanner. L'absence de toute attache de la masse à la paroi gastrique et la présence d'air à l'intérieur de la masse étaient très en faveur du diagnostic.

Resumen

Presentamos el caso de una niña de 15 años con un voluminoso tricobezoar gástrico demostrado por TAC. La ausencia de adherencias de la masa a la pared gástrica y la presencia de aire dentro de aquella eran muy sugestivos del diagnóstico.

Zusammenfassung

Es wird der Fall eines 15-jährigen Mädchens mit einem voluminösen Trichobezoar des Magens vorgestellt, der mittels CT-Untersuchung diagnostiziert wurde. Hinweisend für die korrekte Diagnose dieses „Tumors“ ist die fehlende Adhärenz des Bezoars mit der Magenwand und der Nachweis von Luft in den Strukturen.
