Abstract

Silanes are oxidised to silanols by molecular oxygen, under N-hydroxyphthalimide and Co(II) catalysis, under very mild conditions and in good yields and selectivity. The reaction proceeds through the superimposition of a redox chain to a free-radical chain reaction.
