Abstract

We report our limited experience with the use of a new self-expandable intramedullary nail. Twenty-nine long bone fractures were included in this study. There were 11 femoral fractures, 10 tibial and 8 humeral fractures. Among those fractures there were 1 tibial and 3 humeral pseudoarthrosis. All fractures were treated with the new Fixion intramedullary nail system. Good clinical and radiological outcome was noted in the femoral and tibial fractures. There was a high rate of non-union in the treated humeral fractures and pseudarthrosis.
