Der Stellenwert und die Möglichkeiten der radiologisch-diagnostischen Maßnahmen wird dargestellt. Das neuroradiologische Coiling hat inzwischen das neurochirurgische Clipping als Standardtherapie in vielen Fällen abgelöst und ist aufgrund der stetigen Verbesserung von Coils, Stents und Kathetern weiter auf dem Vormarsch. Dazu werden die technischen Entwicklungen aufgezeigt und die aktuellen Studienergebnisse im Überblick dargestellt. Trotz des hohen Stellenwerts der interventionellen Therapie gibt es auch weiterhin Indikationen für das neurochirurgische Clipping.
