Abstract
The spectrum and effectiveness of radiological diagnostic procedures and therapeutic
approaches for renal hypertension have been constantly increasing over the last several
years, in particular as a result of the technical developments in magnetic resonance
imaging, multislice CT, and color-coded Doppler sonography. This article describes
the current diagnostic possibilities and discusses the advantages and disadvantages
of individual methods. In addition, treatment via percutaneous transluminal angioplasty
and operation, the types of stenosis to be treated, and the patient groups that are
able to be treated successfully without intervention are discussed and explained.
