Summary
Falls are a common and serious problem facing elderly persons. Based on the demographic changes, the identification of people at risk of falling will be a major challenge in the future. Falls are a major threat to independence. In the cascade of dealing with falls in the aged population, identification is only the first step. For people at risk of falling, the right (precise) intervention is the logical next step. Multiple intervention programs have emerged during the last decade and the outcomes and guidelines will be discussed in this article. Recommendation for intervention programs will be given.
