Introduction
Solitary fibrous tumors of the pleura (SFTP) represent less than 5 % of all pleural neoplasms and are also localized in extrathoracic sites, such as the meninges, nose, oral cavity, pharynx, thyroid, breast, kidney, spinal cord. They are a distinct clinical entity among primary pleural tumors not associated with asbestos; immunoprofile evaluation has confirmed their mesenchymal origin. The tumors arise from either visceral (80 % of cases) or parietal pleura and may undergo malignant transformation [[1]].
