Zusammenfassung
Die Ergebnisse der Untersuchungen von Biopsiematerial haben in der Regel für die betroffenen Patienten erhebliche Konsequenzen, insbesondere wenn es um die Diagnose von malignen Tumoren geht. Es muss deswegen von allen Beteiligten dafür Sorge getragen werden, dass die Fehlerquoten möglichst gering bleiben. Es wird dargestellt, wo in der diagnostischen Kette Fehler auftreten können, die zu falschen Klassifikationen an Biopsien aus tumorverdächtigen Prozessen führen können. Fehler in Klassifikationen können entstehen durch eine unzureichende oder falsche Übermittlung von klinischen Daten und Befunden, durch Unzulänglichkeiten bei der technischen Bearbeitung und der histopathologischen Untersuchung, der Befunderstellung und Dokumentation.
Abstract
Results of the histopathological examination of biopsy specimens play an essential role in patients' diagnosis, particularly in malignant tumours. It is the responsibility of all personnel involved to ensure that each patients' specimen is handled for the maximum benefit to the patient. Critical points in the diagnostic procedures will be shown with the possibility of mistakes in the classification of tumour suspicious lesions. Serious errors can occur due to misidentification of specimens, inadequate clinical history and findings, technical mistakes, inadequate histopathological examination, as well as in the use of classifications and documentation.
