The European Journal of Pediatric Surgery is moving on. We are happy to announce the nomination of a new Editor-in-Chief and a new Editorial Board. The former editors, who have run the Journal for more than 20 years with great success, will pass over the editorial responsibility to the new Editor-in-Chief, but will also continue to bring their expertise and will support the new Editor-in-Chief and the new team as experienced members of the Board. The journal is moving on - guaranteeing with this new team continuity and frankness for new developments.
The new structure includes some relevant modifications. The publisher has provided the Journal with an online submission (Manuscript Central™ from ScholarOne) system, which will simplify the submission procedure and create more transparency of the reviewing process for authors. The period between acceptance and publication of manuscripts will be shortened, including immediate online first publication.
Pediatric surgery is characterized by its broad spectrum and numerous sub-specializations in both scientific and clinical aspects. Therefore, the Journal will be focusing on a good balance between publications of general interest for the surgical community, and of those for sub-specializations. More space for editorials and original articles and a limitation of case reports will be mandatory.
The official journal of 22 European associations in our field, and of the European Pediatric Surgeons Association (EUPSA), has specific responsibilities. One of the six issues of the Journal each year will be dedicated to selected manuscripts of the annual meeting of the EUPSA. In addition, the Journal will include space for discussion and relevant news from national associations and the European pediatric surgical community.
The European Journal of Pediatric Surgery is one of the top journals in our field. Let us, the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board, together with you, our readers, authors and reviewers, move on to create an even more interesting and exciting journal.
