Summary
Complementary and alternative medicine are used with different frequency in paediatric oncology. We discuss our own scientific results on CAM-use in Germany and give an overview over the practical use of CAM regarding the published literature so far. The scientific discussion is summarized. The potential risks of CAM-use are described. We give some principles for an open minded decision-making on CAM-use together with the child's parents.
