Metabolische Auswirkungen extrakorporaler Therapieverfahren
Metabolic Effects of Extracorporeal Treatment ModalitiesPublication History

Abstract
In patients with renal failure metabolism is not only influenced by disease and renal failure but also by the renal replacement therapy itself. Therefore, in treating these patients, both an understanding of the metabolic disturbances caused by the renal failure, as well as an appreciation of the metabolic consequences of the extracorporeal treatment will have a great importance. In addition to the underlying metabolic disturbances the effects of current extracorporeal techniques - intermittent vs. continuous are relevant. The impact of these techniques are compared and reviewed.
