Abstract

Qualitative and quantitative assessment of chemosensory function is a prerequisite in the therapy of patients with smell and taste dysfunction. Due to lack of time this diagnostic part is often missed in clinical routine. The present paper describes easy-to-use tools for the diagnosis of patients presenting with olfactory and gustatory complaints. Moreover basic concepts in the management of these patients are presented.
