We are living in a time of rapid development in the sciences, and the specific field of breast cancer is no exception. New knowledge of the mechanisms of development of the disease are constantly being discovered, as are new methods of diagnosis and treatment. Cooperation is one of the most important issues of the next years, cooperation between different institutions within one hospital like multidisciplinary tumour-boards, cooperation across hospitals like study groups and finally cooperation across borders. The main goal of this congress is to facilitate medical cooperation between Slovenia and Austrian. We hope this meeting will be an opportunity for specialists working in this specific field of medicine to join ranks, and that it will bring colleagues from the two neighbouring countries closer, regardless of whether they come from large oncology centres or small practices, and whether they are dealing with research, in- or outpatient work.
