Zusammenfassung

Bei 24 kardiologisch erkrankten, augengesunden Patienten, die als orale Antihypertensiva Propranolol (Dociton) und Metoprolol (Beloc) erhielten, wurde der Augeninnendruck vor und nach der Einnahme bestimmt. Bei keinem der insgesamt 48 Augen kam es zu einem Druckanstieg nach der Medikation. Der Augeninnendruck wurde vielmehr durch die Beta-Rezeptorenblocker signifikant gesenkt, wobei ein Unterschied zwischen Propranolol und Metoprolol nicht festgestellt werden konnte.

Summary

Oral doses of propranolol and metoprolol were tested on 24 patients without glaucoma. The aim of this study was to compare the decrease in intraocular pressure in normal eyes following a single oral dose of propranolol or metoprolol. A statistically significant decrease in IOP was noticed, but no difference was seen between propranolol and metoprolol.
