Abstract

Plat anus taxa have weakly cyanogenic young leaves. Larger amounts of cyanogenic glycosides are present in the peduncles of the inflorescences. Dhur,rin and triglochinin have been isolated from peduncles collected in September. The amount of cyanophoric glucosides is large enough to render Platanus peduncles toxic. A possible systematic meaning of our findings is shortly discussed.
