Die koronare Herzkrankheit (KHK) ist eine der häufigsten Erkrankungen in den Industrienationen. Trotz enormer medizinischer Fortschritte zählt sie zu den häufigsten Todesursachen. Die schlafbezogene Atmungsstörung (SBAS) wird bereits seit längerer Zeit ebenfalls mit einem erhöhten kardiovaskulären Risiko in Verbindung gebracht. Da die SBAS in den meisten Fällen erfolgreich behandelt werden kann, könnte dies ein weiterer Baustein in der Therapie der KHK sein.
