Schlaflosigkeit und nicht erholsamer Schlaf gehören zu den häufigen Beschwerden alter Menschen (1). Schätzungen gehen davon aus, dass etwa 30 bis 60 % der über 65-Jährigen von Schlafstörungen betroffen sind (2–4) und etwa 10 bis 40 % der älteren Menschen klagen über Schlaflosigkeit (Insomnie) (5, 6).
