A number of 3-(2-substituted oxazol-5-yl)indoles have been prepared by aza-Wittig type reaction of iminophosphorane derived from 3-azidoacetyl-1-methylindole with isocyanates and acid chlorides. This methodology has been used also to synthetize five pimprinine analogues.
