Abstract

Tehuanine and heliamine hydrochlorides were crystallized from extracts of Pachycereus pringlei (S. Wats.) Br. and R. Identifications were verified by m.p., TLC, IR, and MS comparisons with reference alkaloids. Traces of lemaireocereine and weberine were identified by TLC. These alkaloids have been previously isolated from other Mexican cereoid cacti which have folkloric medicinal uses.
