Abstract

The authors report a case of congenital extra-hepatic portocaval shunt in a two-year-old girl.

While pointed out antenatally by ultrasound and suspected by a follow-up ultrasound at the age of two years, this anomaly could be confirmed only by coupled ultrasound scanning and color Doppler, which allows for dynamic anatomic and morphologic evaluation.

Comments concern mainly the embryologic hypothesis and the clinical tolerance of this malformation (because no therapeutic measures were adopted).

Zusammenfassung

Die Autoren stellen einen Fall eines 2jährigen Mädchens mit angeborenem extrahepatischem, portokavalem Shunt vor.

Die Diagnose wurde mit Farbdopplersonographie gestellt, wobei bereits pränatal ein Verdacht geäußert wurde, der später im Alter von 2 Jahren erhärtet werden konnte. In der Arbeit wird schwerpunktmäßig auf die Embryologie dieser seltenen Fehlbildung und die Therapie eingegangen. Im vorliegenden Falle war keine Therapie erforderlich. Überlegungen zu eventuellen Spätfolgen bei konservativem Verhalten werden angestellt.
