Significance

The authors synthesize two PDI (perylene tetracarboxylic diimide) dyes (3 and 4) with red-shifted absorption and emission without decreasing their heat and photochemical stability by fusion with a BODIPY (4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene) analogue.
